New 'Quiet Mode' on Instagram

This new option will switch off all notifications sent to devices and also send alerts to contacts saying you’re off-grid to help users take breaks from social media.

Manual Controls for Instagram Recommendations

Instagram is adding more self-moderation tools to allow users to hide recommended posts based on keywords.

On top of that, the ability to select multiple pieces of content on the Explore page and select ‘Not interested’ to avoid the algorithm showing this type of content in the future.

Meta Launches Centralised Data Privacy and Ad Targeting Controls

The updated Accounts Center will help users manage their in-app experiences on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram, by having all personal details, passwords and ad preferences in a single place.

Annual Payment Option for Twitter Blue

Twitter has launched a new annual payment scheme for Twitter Blue, with users saving around 13% per annum. It not only gives users a misguided ‘verification’ tick but also tweet editing, the ability to post longer videos, priority ranking of replies and half the ads, among other benefits.

Twitter Bookmarks Count as Partial Likes

Twitter has updated the display of the Bookmark option so users can tap to save (instead of tap to share) and also allow them to access all saved Bookmarks. They’ve also announced that this action will count as a partial like to help boost in-app engagement.

More Context on YouTube Policy Violations

YouTube is launching timestamps for Community Guidelines and a Guided Resolution Flow to address concerns. This will give creators and brands more specific guidance regarding when a violation occurred in a video clip and the specific policy in question.

TESTING - Location Tagging Element in YouTube Shorts

YouTube is currently testing a way to give more context to Shorts by adding a location tagging option within the upload flow. This extra bit of data can help YouTube’s systems highlight more relevant clips to each user based on the location information and show users more localised clips and updates.
