Due to BeReal’s success this 2022, Instagram is testing new similar features to introduce to different elements of the app.

  • Roll Call: Group chat members to request that all participants add a photo or video of themselves to the chat within 5 minutes.

  • Glimpse Stories: Stories using the front and back cameras simultaneously, and users will have to upload a Glimpse to see other users’ Stories.

DM Labels for Instagram

To help manage customer service in the app, Instagram is developing a set of message labels for business accounts:

  • Flag

  • Booked

  • Ordered

  • Paid

  • Shipped

Instagram Recommendations & Shadowbans

Instagram has updated its Account Status page for professional accounts with a new feature that will indicate whether the account’s content is eligible to be recommended by its various systems, and how to rectify any issues on this front.

Instagram Trend Predictions for 2023

Instagram has released its Trend Predictions report for 2023, a data-driven guide to cultural and social trends defined by Gen Z.
